You can still vote this election if your voter registration application is “pending”.  GALEO and other civil rights groups have filed a lawsuit on October 11, 2018, asking a federal judge to end this law and order that “pending” applications be approved. Because this lawsuit may not be resolved before the upcoming November 6, 2018 election, you must take action now in order to participate in this very important midterm election.

Georgia’s “exact match” law has frozen more than 53,000 voter registration applications and placed them at risk of future cancellation. If the information you provided on your voter registration application — your name, date of birth, driver’s license or state ID number, last four digits of social security number, or citizenship status — does not exactly match your information on file with the Department of Driver Services (DDS) or Social Security Administration (SSA), your application is placed in “pending” status.

Here’s what you should do.

  • Check your voter registration status right away: Georgia My Voter Page

  • If you are in “pending” status, contact your county registrar’s office immediately to learn the reason and to learn what you need to do to vote. You can find your county registrar’s information here.

Everyone can participate!

Georgia Latino Vote was created in 2004 by GALEO to further its mission–to increase the leadership and civic engagement of Latinos in Georgia. For the last eight years, we have engaged in countless efforts across the state to register new voters, mobilize the Latino electorate, and engage Latinos in the policy process. With the following municipalities elections approaching, we will work tirelessly to ensure that all eligible Latino voters are registered and turn out to vote. Having a strong and proactive Latino electorate will shape the future of our state and our nation!
